USA Today has an article about a new edited collection of stories, A Princess Bound: Naughty Fairy Tales for Women.

Kristina Wright, contributor and editor of the volume, had this to say about the book:

I think fairy tales are inherently erotic — and the kink is tied up (no pun intended) in that eroticism. Damsels and knights are bound and held captive, and they have to face all manner of evil in a quest for their ultimate happiness, which is often tied to finding true love (and lust!). The fairy-tale genre is filled with subtext and not-so-subtle kinky elements from bondage to blindfolds to whippings. It's all there, and when erotic romance authors start exploring the themes and drawing out the details, the stories become edgier, sexier and, yes, kinkier.

Of course, this isn't the first time that authors have found the erotic (and kinky!) in fairy tales. Anne Rice's infamous Sleeping Beauty trilogy is a classic example, but I'm also intrigued by Leather Ever After by the awesomely named Sassafras Lowrey. (Okay, I'll admit that about 97% of that curiosity is entirely down to the name Sassafras. I'm absolutely naming my first-born that, regardless of gender.)

So how about you - can you think of any fairy tales out there that are ripe for a kinky reinterpretation, or do you prefer that your childhood stories remain unsullied?
